The vivo V lineup has come a long way – it has become a mid-range trend-setter of the company. Something like the Samsung Galaxy A-series, vivo often implement new technology and loves to go wild with experimental features. The new Pro v17 vivo, however, feels a more mature manner.
Pop-up mechanism has been refined and it is also larger to accommodate two cameras, under-display fingerprint reader has been improved and the four cameras have been introduced as well – able to 2x optical zoom telephoto. Which makes for the most flagships camera settings will be proud of, let alone midrangers.
So, what’s new? Compared with the V15 Pro vivo, the v17 Pro comes with a slightly larger screen and higher – 6:44-inch Super AMOLED panel with no holes or notches, 20: 9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2400px resolution.
The same thing ticking Snapdragon 675 under the hood, though, so we knew to expect a solid performance. Chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD cards.
Selfie unit accommodates motorized 32MP main camera with f / 2.0 aperture and ultrawide 8MP snapper. back has four cameras – super popular 48MP main sensor with f / 1.8 lens, 8MP unit ultrawide angle to f / 2.2 lens (the same as in the previous generation) and tele 13MP camera capable 2x optical zoom. The fourth camera is only 2MP depth sensor.
Generous contributions 4,100 mAh – a substantial increase over the 3700 mAh unit V15 Pro. Equally fast charging 18W available but v17 Pro is equipped with a USB connector-C, unlike the V15 Pro.
So while mostly sticking Pro v17 predecessor’s formula brings substantial upgrading in key aspects. It is too early to say whether it was as great in real life as the spec sheet makes it sound, but we have started our testing so we will soon know.
