According to Japanese media, Sony has the next xperia phone in the works and as expected, it will use the Snapdragon 855 and 855+ successor. The first evidence of the SoC has appeared in Sony firmware distribution server.
SoC has an internal model number SM8250 and it is widely believed that this is the chipset itself, for now, called Snapdragon 865. There is also a rumor going around that the chip will come out in two variants – with integrated modem 5G, like new -new launched Kirin 990, and one iteration with 4G connectivity.
It would make sense for Qualcomm to offer two models like the 5G is still new to the scene, and not everyone wants to pay extra to be an early adopter. It is unclear, however, whether Sony will offer its Xperia the future with both options, but it’s safe to assume that it will. Judging by the release of the Xperia past, we will see mobile phones next year during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
