HTC has not been relevant for some time now. Of course, there are several handsets released in recent years almost all of the good mid-range or high-end smartphones. But this year, the company was not present and did not release any phone. We did see an entry-level Wildfire X, but it’s a different company that only licensed name.
The company’s new CEO, Yves Maitres, however, said that HTC did not give up the smartphone business. He shared his vision returned to the high-end smartphone market when the time is right. HTC will focus on markets with high GDP not compete in this growing market.
He also pointed out the reason why the HTC so far behind the rest of the industry smartphone makers. According to him, HTC stopped investing in research and development of old and instead focuses on its VR business. Meanwhile, the likes of Samsung and Huawei have not stopped investing in hardware innovation and their sales figures are here to prove.
